From December to February, it is the dark season, and the northern lights often dance across the sky.During this time of year, it’s the season for tending livestock, practicing duodji (Sami crafts), and winter cod fishing. When visiting us, our guests can go skiing, hike to a summit, ride snowmobiles, try ice climbing and ice play, explore the forests and wilderness on snowshoes, or go dog sledding. Or simply take a stroll along the roads with a kicksled.
In February and March, the days gradually become lighter, and the sun has returned. It is still the season for tending livestock, and spring cod fishing is now underway. This is also the time of year for drying meat. The first fishing tourists often arrive during this season. As for activities, there are excellent conditions for skiing (including cross-country skiing on groomed trails), summit hikes, snowmobile trips, ice fishing in the mountains, dog sledding, as well as outings with kicksleds and snowshoes.

When spring arrives in April-May, there are still fantastic conditions for mountain skiing or skiing on groomed trails. In the barn, it’s lambing season, while outdoors, activities like egg gathering and ice fishing take place. It is starting to be possible to use bicycles, while snowshoeing, skiing/cross-country skiing, summit hikes, snowmobiling, and dog sledding remain options. A snowmobile trip can also be combined with ice fishing.
In May-June, we are heading toward summer, but winter activities like glacier hiking are still possible. Spring work on the land is underway, along with salmon net fishing and egg gathering. With us, you can enjoy sea fishing, river fishing, cycling, mountain biking, hiking, and river paddling.

In autumn, during August-September, it’s berry-picking and hunting season. Now you can fish for pollock, herring, flounder, and halibut in the fjord. Mushrooms and berries can be gathered in the forests and fields, and it’s time to harvest the potatoes. Additionally, you can still fish at sea, go cycling on roads or trails, try bungee jumping, enjoy hiking, hunt small game in the woods and mountains, pick berries, and paddle on the sea, mountain lakes, or rivers.

In late autumn, during October-November, before the dark season arrives, it’s time to gather the sheep, shear them, and begin slaughtering. Fishing for haddock, cod, and herring is also in full swing. This is also the time to search for duodji materials in the forests and fields. At our place, guests can enjoy sea fishing, cycling, mountain biking, hiking and/or hunting trips, berry picking, or ice climbing.
The sheep are back in the barn for the winter, and daylight is almost entirely gone. There are still opportunities to hunt small game—and to chase the northern lights. Duodji (Sami crafts) is a common activity during this time. In the dark season, from November to December, we can host meetings, conferences, and Christmas parties upon request. With 32 beds, a meeting room, and a restaurant, Manndalen is a great place for company gatherings and Christmas celebrations.Additionally, there are opportunities for skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, ice climbing, and ice play.
